Thank you everyone for the well wishes. He was also suffering from heat exhaustion. His uniform was soaked and he spent most of yesterday and today recuperating. The locking of the knees, leading him to pass out, was almost a blessing since the responders quickly realized that he was also overheating.
I've tried to tell him about the locking of the knees and how to prevent it since I am also a veteran and have seen my share of fellow sailors drop in ceremonies. Sometimes a teen has to learn the hard way.
He really enjoys the JROTC program and wants to also go into the military. I take it as a compliment since it looks like he is following in his mother's footsteps. I was one of the first women allowed to participate in the JROTC program (dating myself

) and I see him participating in all the activities that I did. I know that he will develop a sense of pride in his country and in what he is doing and creating lasting memories along the way. He signs up for every event that he can.
