Default palm coast data fires long time employees

Just wondering if, anyone knows why, Palm Coast Data would terminate long time managers for no just reason.
Is their company in trouble financially?

Don't no, But in Florida a company doesn't need a reason to fire someone. It really stinks when it happens and for no reason. But with the economy in the situation the way it is. I may go as so far as to guess it's because the company is making payrole cuts. The biggest way to do this is get ride of the high payed employees.

I hope that the people who got fired, find jobs soon.

Palm Coast Data has a hiring quota. They do this all the time. From what I heard, it is being looked into.

This is what happens. They hire poeple, keep them for a 1, 2 or 3 years then lay them off. This is how they get around the quota.

Awful company.

Awful company is so correct. I know several people who either still work there or use to work there and they have said that same thing. From what I hear the working conditions aren't that nice either. Seems like this is an example of really taking advantage of the Florida at will work laws. Why would any employee try to do a great job when they know that they could be let go just because...

Are you asking this question in general or do you have knowledge of specific situations?

Since they're letting employees take many weeks off without pay, I'd say YES, they're in trouble financially.

The company gets its money from magazines. Magazines are fading away because of the internet. I don't think it's a bad company just one struggling to stay alive.

Work there. We were told to bold face lie to customers when they'd ask us if we shared their information with other companies. It was all about quantity, not quality. Take as many calls as you could on your shift, even if that means NEVER solving the problems for the customers. I had long calls because I tended to spend extra time trying to fix accounts. And because I had so many long calls (but happy customers), I was skipped over for a raise a few times. And then they told us we could handle any and all magazines on ONE call, so if the person had say....8 subscriptions and each one needed an address change, extending the subscription, and getting gift subscriptions, we were told we had less than 3 minutes to make that happen. The job was just too stressful to me. I am big on customer service and making people happy. I tried but the job just got to me there. I couldn't take the dishonesty or the push for speed rather than good customer service.

I don't personally blame the management staff there, it was the big bosses far removed from the call center. But IMO, it was a bad company to employees and to its customers.

They closed several facilities in the North, fired a lot of employees then and brought a few of the jobs and relocated people, (On their dime) here. The question should not be about how many jobs have been created since 2008 as part of an agreement with Palm Coast. The question should be "How many jobs have they lost, "Fired people from" and how much below the employment levels in 2008 are they today. Who is not in financial trouble today? Every business is trying to plug the financial leaks, but that is not working well is it?

They have been firing long time employees because they make too much money. The company is trying to save money. Thats why they cut back everyones hours to 35 hours a week and/or let them takes weeks of unpaid time off. I think the hand writting is on the wall with this company. They own 3 buildings that are less than half full of people, the parking lot is so empty. Very sad.

As of about 2pm today, 5 more employees were let go. Including 2 HR employees and a warehouse supervisor. Everyone is walking around on eggshells there, rumors are flying that 65-75 more employees will be let go in the coming weeks.

Sad how badly employees are being traded, and I speak generally not about this company specifically. This will come to haunt them when the economy comes around. Businesses will struggle to get and keep anyone new, and the people they hire will be full of resentment from their last jobs. Loyalty will be a thing of the past again for a long time. Why they can't see the benefit in treading their people right is beyond me. Fair pay, security, good benefits and decent working conditions make good , dependable employees. Google has it figured out. They don't keep more by giving less, but get more by giving more and everyone is happy and succeeds.

Long ago I formed a JOB Club, about 70 people showed up the first meeting, we met once a week, people helped each other with resumes, people gave reports on jobs they had applied for, it help weed out a lot of jobs that were nothing more then scams, they best benefit was the feel of belonging to the club and getting psychological support from each other. When you lose a job there is a lost of power an individual has, but when you are part of a group you seem to get the power back, wish I could explain it better. We even had the unemployment office come and teach a six hour seminar on finding jobs. We even contacted a few business and asked them to help us with finding jobs. It was quite effective. Something about a group multiplies the power of the individual.
