Has anyone else suffered from the heat?
I used to love the heat. Last year at a 2 day fundraising event at Flagler Beach I suffered heat exhaustion. I was very sick for over a week. I didn't relize the lasting effects this has. I have become very uncomfortable in the heat, even being outside for a few minutes during the day, makes it difficult for my body to cool down. I would love to know if anyone has suffered from this and will the effects ever get better?

Haven't suffered from heat exhaustion in years. But if you know that you will be in it, as I am daily for work, You start hydrating long before you step out into it. Get ahead of the sweating part of it.

So the trick is to drink plenty of water? Something I don't do enough of. I not a fan of water.

CP I to have trouble in the heat. Especially now.. that I am getting older. I love to go to the beach but there is always a good breeze blowing and it has to be early like before noon if we go now. Afterwords it is just too hot.
I don't like getting HOT anymore It makes me very irritable and like you said sick if I stay out in it for too long. That could be 20 min. or longer. Depends on the humidity for me.
This morning I was mowing and was OK for a bit but I had to take a break as I started to feel like I couldn't get my breath. It is easy to over heat in these temps isn't it?
I think my husband is SUPER MAN because he withstands this heat on a daily basis for 8 or more hours. He takes so many drinks with him to work fills them with ice to the rim so he has plenty of cool water and Gatorade to drink.
I tend to stay out of the heat inside AC or in the water. IF there is not a good breeze blowing or the humidity is too high. Only way to combat it for me.
So you are NOT ALONE! btw I have heard several people complain about this heat this year. So it isn't just us and our ages. My husband said so many guys leave work every day saying they can't take it. YOUNG GUYS.. It could also depend on ones make up I think some are better tolerant of these kind of heat waves than others.
Then again MY husband loves to be outside winter just drives him nutso cause it's too cold. LOL

This heat just makes me feel exhausted all of the time. People up north get depressed and have cabin fever in the winter, I have it in the summer here!!! I'm so ready for cooler weather.

Main rule of heat....anyone can deal with heat as long as you follow the main rule
Drink water keep drinking water even if you do not feel thirsty. I have worked outside in all sorts of heat and the key is drinking water.
Other tips are:
- Keep drinking water. NO beer, alcohol. Gatoraid is also good
- Sunscreen plenty of it. If you get sunburned your body does not have the ability to sweat like normal and that is part of the cooling system
- Take breaks in the heat. Some of us can handle it better than others
- Wear light colored and loose clothing
- Drink water and lots of it
- If you can avoid the hottest part of the day, 11 AM - 3 PM for outside work
- Drink plenty of water
- Again the secret is drinking PLENTY of water. Anyone who is healthy can usually deal with the heat and heat values if they follow that main rule.
I have worked outside in all sorts of conditions, directed traffic on hard hot blacktop and that trick is drinking lots of water is the key.
It can sneak up on you that is why it is so important to stay hydrated,

I loved the cold spell we had. Even though my office had no heat, I still loved it. Would trade it for this muggy yucky heat any day.

Nope it is just as humid as normal. Temps aloft are a bit warmer contributing to heat values. Welcome to the tropics.
