Deputies: Boys were home alone with dad's body

BUNNELL, Fla. (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies in central Florida say three young boys spent two days alone with their father's body inside a trailer home.

Flagler County sheriff's deputies found 24-year-old John Jason Uriarte lying on a mattress Monday. His 3-year-old son -- one of a set of twins -- was curled up next to him.

Authorities say his 6-year-old son walked down the street and told neighbors something was wrong. The older boy told investigators his dad never woke up after going to bed Friday night. The boy also said he fed his brothers and watched TV with them.

The Department of Children & Families is investigating. Lisa Uriarte, the children's mother, says DCF placed them with their great-grandfather.
