Default Proposed Flagler Schools 2013-14 and 2014-15 Calendars

Below please find the proposed calendars for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years, up for approval at tonight's school board meeting.

The 2013 - 14 Calendar Highlights are:

First Day of school, Monday, August 19th
Full week of Thanksgiving off
Winter Break - Monday, December 23 to Friday, January 3
Last Day of school - Thursday June 5
No Half Days

Really impressed that they are planning out so far ahead. It would be helpful if they could plan out that far in advance for rezoning and possible grade level changes as well.

Thank you for allowing us to see this. I think it's the first time in all the years my daughter has been a student, that someone thought it would be prudent for the parents to be included, so we can plan too. I do appeiciate it.

Andy, did both of these schedules pass the board last night so they can be relied on? I like to plan vacations early so knowing this info is set in stone would be a big help!!!

I would like to see a 1 week earlier start so we get out the last week in May. Students are worthless after June 1!

Half days are really hard on working parents. Hopefully schools are beginning to realize that in most homes now, both parents work and finding care for the children isn't cheap and isn't easy. Of course mine are grown but I'd love to see the return of more after-school programs. Keep 'em busy!
