I really don't have any problem with the red light camera except for the fact that the city needs to figure out how to get the money from the people who are running the red lights that do not live in PC. To me they are punishing the residence of PC and allowing the rest to do whatever they want without having to worry about paying the fine.

Being that it is state law now, I don't think that is an issue for Floridians. I don't know what happens with out of staters.

It's a city code violation. Therefore nothing is done to the people who don't reside in Palm Coast. But if you reside in PC and don't pay the citation. the city puts a lien on your home. They can not do this to others that live outside of PC because, One it's outside of CE jurisdiction, and two it would cost the city waaaaaayy no much to go after them.

I hereby nominate our '5% Solution' Mayor for Most 'tongue-in-cheek' statement by a local politician award for 2012: "The goal is not to catch people."
He went on to say, "The goal is to make driving and pedestrian behavior and bicyclist behavior safer. If it's going to contribute to that, I'm all for it."

I understand it started out as a code violation but I believe that when the state legislation made it a law that cities could have them, I thought that extended the power to collect fines to anyone in the state. Not sure of all the legalese, maybe one of our self-proclaimed lawyers here could shed some light.
