VARN Park break-ins
There have been numerous car break-ins at Varn park even during the daytime. You can see from the mounds of glass in the parking spaces.
Just thought I would let people know. Our friends had their cars broken into and this is what they were told by the deputies.

It's about 4 miles south after you get on A1A from the Hammock Dunes Bridge. It is a little parking area (beach side) with rest rooms where people often park to fish or get to the beach. The problem is that when you are on the beach, YOU CANNOT SEE your car. It's a good idea to never leave anything in view that might tempt the theives.

That has happened there for years. That is why when I go to the beach I park along A1A in Flagler Beach it is a rare thing there because the cars are easily seen.

Now I see this.
This may be a good spot for a bonfire!
Is the beach wheelchair accessible by some chance? Did you notice? Does anyone know?

THere is a ramp from the parking area by the restrooms which goes behind them and over the dunes and along the dunes to the beach, Yes it's wheel chair accessible to the point where you hit the sand I would say

Great! This gives us choices.
A wheelchair or child's stroller can be picked up by a couple of strong guys and move in the right spot if needed or if we can get a 4 boards and move it that way.
( by moving 2 at a time and providing a solid surface )

Was there this weekend Sat 8/18 and 2 cars next to mine got broken into. Such a shame that this is going on and looks like has been for a while with no results.

How do you keep people from leaving valuables in their vehicles? Seems warnings are not enough.

I'd be willing to bet that having your stuff stolen would do the trick.

Thanks for the heads up Crazy Eyes, I go there often, but I never leave anything in the car but that might not stop someone for breaking in.

I don't know how to do that, but why don't they try setting up some temporary, hidden surveillance cameras and catch these thiefs? Or maybe some "bait" cars; get a crappy old car and throw a camera or wallet on the front seat. Sounds like it shouldn't take long to catch some fish.

bait cars? when the person breaks in to steal, have a gang of people jump outta the bushes and beat the crap outta him? maybe it would work.
