After going through all of them what I have found interesting is that Pollinger is being attacked on his lack of experience, and coming from a small town. The town had 100,000 residents, which is comparable to Palm Coast. The other candidates also came from PDs in towns of simlar population.

I hope that in the future Flagler County will be able to elect a Sheriff that grew up here, served as a Deputy here, and likes it here. I have a feeling we will not have to long to wait for that to happen. We have a lot of good, qualified deputies that I would be proud to support and would be the best "crimefighter" for the job. I cannot imagine anyone with outside ties to other states and cities/counties able to defeat a home grown Flagler County candidate for Sheriff. 2016 maybe? I know most of us are from other places. This is Florida and like they tell us, when in Rome do as the Romans do.
After the primary it will get tighter and narrowed down to a choice between two, a Democrat and a Republican for most races. Good luck to all.

I personally would love to see some local "CRIME FIGHTER" run also. I would support a few of the deputies that are currently working for the FCSO. Most of the really good deputies would not get into the political arena.
As I have read more about other candidates I am finding it harder to decide between them all. I eliminated Manfre and Stevens. Previous elections have eliminated them both because they have checkered histories.
I am really looking into Pollinger at this time and the more his name pops up the more I look into the past. I have not found anything yet that would make me not vote for him in the up coming election.
I would love to see what plans Pollinger has for the department.

The results of the election are in.
Flagler County Sheriff Don Fleming has won the Republican primary, sending him into a showdown with an old nemesis Jim Manfre, a Democrat.
Fleming endured a number of controversies to win the Republican primary, including his department's handling of a fatal accident in involving the wife of School Board member John Fischer, who is a friend of Fleming. Fleming also is the target of an ethics complaint accusing him of failing to report a free membership card to the Hammock Beach Resort.
Fleming's problems faded into the background at times during the political campaigns as his Republican challengers, John F. Pollinger and Ray Stevens, gored each other. Stevens finished second in the Republican primary and Pollinger a distant third. Manfre overwhelmed challenger Karl Tozzi by a 2-to-1 margin.
Sorry I have no idea how it was posted 3x's

I guess the poster felt it was worth repeating, again and again.

I didn't expect John Pollinger to come in last.

Pollinger spent over $40,000 on his campaign, others spent or collected far far less. It just goes to show that the most money doesn't always win. I, too was surprised at Steven and Manfre's #'s. Kind of strange.

I guess people in this county like dirty fighters. Just what we need in a sheriff. God help us.
