I found out that the city leases the lot to provide additional parking, since there are not enough free parking areas. Especially with all the road work going on. Since people do not want to pay and are not really using it, it will probably go away soon. Apparently, it's costing the city too much. The key is to get to the beach early and get the free spots, they fill up quick though . When I first moved here 20 years ago it was never an issue, now on the weekends, the beach is crowded from 20th South to 20th North, CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's great! I love Flagler Beach and hate anything that puts a black cloud over it. Sounds like they have a pretty good "system" going for them too.
